Simon Pearson

After the gang collapses Simon Pearson starts a new life in Rhodes. He opened a general store, distancing himself from his past. He embraces a quiet, lawful existence as a respected shopkeeper. When visited by John in the epilogue, Pearson appears content with his new life, he has a picture of the gang members on the wall of his shop indicating that he still embraces the sweet memories of his friends from back then.
Leopold Strauss

Leopold Strauss was exiled from the gang by Arthur, later he was captured by the Pinkertons and they brutally tortured him but still refused to give up any information about the gang and died due to his injuries.
Tilly Jackson

Tilly Jackson leaves the gang before its official breakup (due to Arthur’s help) and builds a new life for herself. She eventually moves to Saint-Denis, where she marries a wealthy man. By the epilogue, she has settled into an upper-class lifestyle and has a child. When John Marston meets her again, she appears happy and well-off.
Jenny Kirk

Jenny was severely wounded during the failed heist of the Blackwater ferry, she stayed to fend off the Pinkertons despite her injuries but got killed by them shortly after that, Tilly somehow managed to secure her body and was taken by the gang during their escape north and she got buried in the snowy area of Grizzlies West, Ambarino, in an isolated place close to the river in Spider Gorge.
Hosea Matthews

Hosea Matthews was killed by the Pinkertons during the Saint-Denis bank heist. Agent Milton shoots him in the chest in front of Dutch and the gang, using his death to send a message. Hosea dies instantly, and his death shakes the gang’s morale. His body is later recovered by Charles (along with Lenny’s) and buried in Lakay, Bluewater Marsh under a giant tree next to each other.

Mac Callander

After the failed Blackwater Ferry heist Mac is separated from the rest of the gang members, later on Agent Milton confesses to Arthur that they caught Mac Callander and that he was all injured and on the verge of death, Milton also said that his death was slow but merciful, including that Mac did indeed die.
Davey Callander

Davey was heavily wounded during the failed ferry robbery in Blackwater after sustaining a gunshot wound to the gut. As the gang flees north into Grizzlies West, Ambarino, Davey barely clings onto life while being looked after by Tilly and Abigail, and passes away shortly after the group reaches Colter. they buried him in, West Grizzlies, Ambarino specifically Colter (the abandoned mining town where the gang took shelter after their escape).
Molly O’Shea

After falsely proclaiming (while she was drunk) that she was the one who told the Pinkertons about the Saint-Denis heist to gain Dutch’s attention after he kept ignoring her as the story went on, Dutch got angry and pulled up his gun to shoot her but Arthur calmed him down, but eventually, Susan Grimshaw shot her with her shotgun in her guts which immediately ended her life, stating that she knew the consequences of her betrayal and ordered pearson and bill to burn her body.

Mary-Beth Gaskill

Shortly before the gang’s breakup, she left with Pearson, Uncle, and Karen, by 1907, she had become a romance novelist under the pen name of Leslie Dupont. John Marston can encounter her at the train station in Valentine, where the two talk about their new lives, while also reminiscing about their old lives and Arthur. When a train approaches, Mary Beth gives John a copy of one of her books, and the two bid farewell as she boards the train. A letter from Tilly reveals that she and Mary-Beth are in close contact and still see each other often.
Reverend Swanson

Later in the final days of the gang, Reverend decides to leave the gang, Arthur meets him at the train station in Emerald Ranch where they share a final conversation mentioning that he was fed up with all the trouble and Dutch’s mental decline and decisions and that he wants to leave, Arthur respects his decision then he boards the train and leaves, later in the epilogue Charles informs John that Swanson had moved to New York to become a preacher. A newspaper article reveals that Swanson became the minister of the First Congregational Church of New York.
Susan Grimshaw

During the moment of the gang’s breakup, Susan takes Arthur and John’s side, but Micah shoots her in the stomach when she is distracted. She slowly and painfully bleeds out and the rest of the gang turns on Arthur and John then The Pinkertons raid the camp, forcing all the men to flee, later on, Charles recovers her body and is buried in New Hannover up on a hill facing Elysian pool.

Karen Jones

After the gang moves to Beaver Hollow, Karen’s alcoholism becomes even worse and she becomes quite bitter and hostile. At most times in the camp, she can be found drunk and angrily dismissing anyone who shows concern for her, Karen later leaves the gang in tow with Pearson, Uncle, and Mary-Beth. however Following the gang’s downfall, Karen disappeared from the public eye, and later in the epilogue in a letter to John, Tilly speculates that Karen drank herself to death. so she is presumed dead.
Kieran Duffy

At some point during the night, Kieran was captured by the O’Driscolls. After this, he was decapitated, his eyes were gouged out, and his corpse was sent back to Shady Belle on horseback, tied up in a manner that displayed his decapitated, eyeless head being held in his cupped hands. Soon after, the O’Driscoll gang ambushes the Shady Belle manor where the Van der Line Gang resides, following the intense gunfight, Dutch and the rest of the gang begin to clean up the mess. Dutch orders Reverend Swanson to bury Kieran somewhere that’s “close, but not too close”. After this, Kieran’s grave can be found in the meadow west of Shady Belle, Lemoyne.

Sean MacGuire

Sean MacGuire is killed in an ambush As he walks through town with Arthur, Bill, and Micah, he is suddenly shot in the head by a sniper from the Gray family. His death is immediate, and the gang is caught off guard by the attack. A shootout follows, but Sean’s body is left behind as the gang is forced to retreat. after retrieving his body, his grave is later found in the Clemens Point area, near the gang’s old campsite.

Josiah Trelawny

After the gang begins falling apart, Trelawny eventually decides to leave. He packs his bags and quietly leaves for good after Arthur gives him his blessing. Trelawny thanks Arthur for being such a good friend, he can be heard later in Saint-Denis after reuniting with his family, but after that his fate is unknown.
Lenny Summers

During the Saint-Denis robbery Lenny gets shot by the Pinkertons on the roof during the gang’s escape, Arthur watches helplessly as Lenny collapses and dies almost instantly. With the Pinkertons closing in, the gang is forced to leave his body behind, later on, Sadie Adler mentions that she and the remaining gang members managed to get Lenny’s body out of Saint-Denis by robbing the local morgue, and eventually buried next to Hosea under a giant tree in Lakay, Bluewater Marsh.

Uncle

Uncle survives the collapse of the Van der Linde gang and later reunites with John Marston in the epilogue, Uncle continues to live with the Marston family after John’s return. Working at the ranch, Uncle can be seen assisting with blacksmithing and animal tending duties, he also continues his lazy and humorous jokes and excuses.
Years later in 1911 US Army soldiers and Bureau agents launch an attack on the ranch. Uncle spots them and immediately alerts John, enabling them to mount a defense and plan for the escape of Jack and Abigail, Uncle assists John in fighting the soldiers, but is ultimately shot in the chest during the skirmish insisting on the family’s escape he dies from the shot and later on buried atop the ridge at Beecher’s Hope ranch.

Sadie Adler

After the gang’s collapse, Sadie becomes a successful bounty hunter, after reuniting with John and Charles later she assists John (alongside Charles) in the final confrontation of Micah Bell, After Micah’s death, she attends John and Abigail’s wedding at Beecher’s Hope. Sometime afterward, she tells John that she plans to leave and head south to South America. She rides away, never to be seen again, her final fate unknown afterward.
Micah Bell

Micah Bell betrays the Van der Linde gang, secretly working as an informant for the Pinkertons. After the gang collapses, he disappears and later forms his own gang in the mountains. In the epilogue, John Marston, Sadie Adler, and Charles Smith track him down at his hideout and wipe out his whole gang. During the confrontation, Micah engages in a brutal fight but is ultimately shot by Dutch van der Linde who unexpectedly turns on him and is shot brutally by John Marston. After his death, His body is left behind freezing and rotting in its place in Mount Hagen.

Charles Smith

Charles Smith leaves the Van der Linde gang before its final collapse and goes to help the Wapiti reservation natives after the collapse he recovers Susan and Arthur’s bodies to give them a proper burial. years later Charles eventually joins a fighting ring in Saint-Denis to make a living. In the epilogue, he reunites with John Marston and helps him build Beecher’s Hope.
Later, he joins John and Sadie in tracking down Micah Bell and plays a key role in the final battle. After Micah is killed, he attends John and Abigail’s wedding at the ranch. Sometime later, Charles tells John that he plans to head north to Canada for a peaceful life. He soon leaves Beecher’s Hope, never to be seen again. and his fate after that is unknown.
Abigail Roberts/Marston

Abigail Roberts leaves the Van der Linde gang right before its collapse (with Arthur and Sadie’s help), taking Jack Marston with her. She later reunites with John Marston. In the epilogue, she encourages him to build a stable life. Eventually, they marry, starting a new chapter together in Beecher’s Hope.
Years later in 1911, Abigail and Jack are captured by government agents taking them as a bargaining chip so John can comply with the government’s agents to hunt down the remaining gang members. After John completes their request they return home, only for them not to honor their deal and launch a surprise attack on John’s ranch alongside the US army, after ensuring that Abigail and Jack escaped John redeems himself and gets killed brutally by the agents. Sometime later, Abigail dies from unknown causes(it is speculated due to grief), and her grave is located at Beecher’s Hope, next to her husband John.
Bill Williamson

Bill Williamson survives the collapse of the Van der Linde gang and goes on to form his own group of outlaws. later in 1911, he became a notorious outlaw in the American Southwest. later on, Bill is confronted and captured by John Marston, who is forced to hunt him down for the government. Bill is eventually killed by John during in a final showdown in Mexico near Escalera. His death comes after a brief escape attempt, marking the end of his criminal career.

Javier Escuella

At some stage after the disbandment of the gang, Javier returns to Mexico. He is reported to have been living in the mountains in Mexico by 1907, later on in 1911 Javier worked as a hitman for Colonel Allende (Nuevo Paraiso’s dictator governer), sometime later John managed to track him down in Mexico with the help of the rebels and during john’s confrontation he tries to strike a deal with john to let him go but failed to do so only for him desperately trying to escape but eventually captured or killed by john near El Presidio. (if captured John will turn him to the bureau agents to execute him later) either way, Javier will die.

Dutch Van der Linde

After the fall of the gang in 1899 Dutch disappears, later on in 1907 when Micah is tracked down by John, Sadie, and Charles Dutch is there with Micah in the final showdown between Micah and John where he turns on Micah and shoots him which made john end Micah once and for all then he disappeared without saying any word to John never to be seen.
Sometime between 1907 and 1911, Dutch resurfaced to form a new gang comprised of disaffected young natives, operating in West Elizabeth after a series of crimes that caught the bureau agents’ attention they sent John to hunt him down (after taking his family as captives), eventually after getting cornered by John he engages with a final conversation with him and then he commits suicide by jumping down from a high cliff right in front of John refusing to be turned in to the government.

John Marston

After the downfall of the gang in 1899, John managed to settle down with his family in Beecher’s Hope (due to Arthur’s help before he passed), and after Micah’s confrontation, he lived happily on his own farm alongside his family thinking that he escaped his past but eventually his past came to haunt him back after agent Ross discovered his whereabouts.
Later in 1911, Agent Ross took John’s family as captives and used them so John could hunt down his former brothers in arms, Bill, Javier, and Dutch, after fulfilling their demands the bureau agents did not keep their word and launched a surprise attack with the Us army on John’s ranch after a long fight, John made sure that Abigail and Jack escaped and in a final move he redeemed himself in front of many US soldiers and bureau agents killing as many as he could and buying time.
Eventually, he got shot brutally in his own ranch and left to bleed out on the ground, sometime later Jack and Abigail returned to find John dead on the ground basking in his own blood, they buried him on top of the hill overlooking the ranch in Beecher’s hope, next to Uncle (and Abigail later).

Arthur Morgan

After contracting tuberculosis Arthur’s health deteriorates, which makes him question his choices and life of crime, when Arthur knows that he has little time left to live he begins to show signs of redemption helping everyone and anybody who he had done wrong in the past, and right before the gang collapsed he secured some of the gang members escape and the escape of John Marston himself so he could start a new chapter in his life.
During Arthur’s final confrontation with Micah Bell on the mountaintop, Arthur either dies watching the sunrise for the final time as he succumbs to severe sickness (high honor level) or gets shot by Micah (low honor level),(if the player chooses to come back for the money the outcome is still pretty much the same Arthur either dies due to severe sickness after the fight or gets stabbed by Micah and left to die but in the dark and gloomy beaver hollow rather than the mountaintop), his body was later on recovered by Charles Smith and buried on top of a mountain in Grizzlies East, Ambarino with a stunning view.
